The advertisement featured the Lamar brothers as well as Bijnan.
It also featured a picture of a girl in a bikini in the foreground.
The photo was taken in the town of Bajrangirpur in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
In the advert, Lamar said he had taken out the advertisement after a meeting with then Prime Minister of India Pranab Mukherjee, which took place on January 2, 1986.
He said that when he started to write the advertisement, he thought of it as a tribute to the late poet, poet laureate and political leader Srinivasa Ramanujan.
In a written response to a query by the Times, the minister of culture and Information Technology, Anil Vij, said that the advertisement was created in honour of Srinivasan Ramanuja.
The minister also said that Srini has been referred to as a leader of the Hindu nationalist movement.
The minister said the ministry would soon take up the matter of the advertisement with the Advertising Commission of India.
A statement from the Indian Media and Broadcasting Commission said that it would take a decision on the matter after receiving a report from the Advertising Ethics Officer.
The commission, which is responsible for the ethics of media and broadcasting, had earlier issued an advisory on the subject.
